I need safe words
to wrap around me
like a thick Winter comforter
to hold me close and make sure
I'll be fine
I have a deep relationship
with my pens
they sing me words of wisdom
and tell me where to fix myself
to right myself
to be better
words are like you and me,
they can be angry or hurt
soft or firm
good-hearted or wicked
they can see you
you can't hide
they'll find you
and force you to admit your flaws.
