Mother's drooping eyes wash over a closed door
Rinse and repeat whenever the dust should sweep
Over pale, gaunt cheeks, yet a flurry of blush in
The smothering of your Pooh bear blanket,
Fondly caressing the unmade bed.
And yet, tight lips have sown your silence
Into pleated suits, into ties of ten hour schedules—
So the cracked skin shrivels and dries in a casket.
