I have witnessed a day in the woods
The sweeping emerald of a lush forest
Swooping birds sing out in jest
And morning dew wakes sleeping buds
I feel warm dirt beneath my toes
I breathe the smell of clean, sweet grass

The midday sun filters through treetops
In beams, warm and golden
Young deer frolic through the meadow
The singing lake buzzes with life
And the hum of insects dies with the day

Evening cools around me
Howling wolves sing to their sister moon
Through the purple hush of a deep night
The still lake, a mirror, reflects diamond stars
And the fireflies, winking gold, announce
My day is done.
