When Grandma packs her bag she cries:
Big, Wet, tears

Grandpas in the bathtub
Listening to Joni Mitchell
Surrounded by stacks of
big, fat, anthropology candles

That he bought,
For this fateful day,
On eBay,
From someone named Romantic Rhino 3000

It’s time to pack the fanny packs for flight,
And organize the geriatric medicine that’s jumbled on the kitchen table:
Like the Ecstasy covered tables of a nightclub, called Re-Enchantment

It’s time to see the children, their children, and their children’s children.
Just thinking about it conjures up images of brown, wet, diapers
Memories of teens,
That have not quite yet learned how to use deodorant
hopped up on estrogen and testosterone

It makes Uncle Jack pee his pants
And Auntie Su eat a brownie

A special Brownie,
Labeled reunion,
Tucked away safely,
In her freezer.

I wrote this from a english class poetry prompt. We were required to write a poem based on a phrase from a classmate's poem. My phrase was "Relatives Regret Returning"
