"Never Give Up"

The empty streets were quiet.
Then they were loud.
Filled with a blaring siren.
A siren the townspeople didn’t know was there.
A siren used only for events the townspeople didn’t know possible

The birds no longer singing
The trees unmoving
The town is still
Untouched

People in their homes
Clutching their children
Their photo albums
Their homemade videos
If they were to die, they wanted to do so with their memories

And then the town was gone
No more than a memory
A mere speck in the human existence
Nobody missed them
Nobody cared

None of them where going to be president
None of them where going to save the world

Now the town is gone, and life goes on
