Reality was stripped away
a nightmare lurked in the distance of my childhood fantasies.
The nightmare got closer and closer until it replaced the fantasy.
Feeding on my fear the nightmare grew stronger and eventually became reality.
A faint light appeared in the distance.
One day I was less afraid and the light grew stronger.
Each coming day I was less and less afraid
the light grew more.
One day the light overpowered the nightmares balance was restored.
Reality settled back in and everything was normal again.
A fantasy is dancing in the distance
taunting me
luring me.
I run toward the fantasy
toward the dream.
I am being held back.
Reality pulls me back
it won't let me go.
I am kicking and screaming trying to get loose, I am biting the arms of reality
clawing my way out.
Nothing is working.
I can't escape.
The fantasy is doing tricks
mocking me.
My dream walks up to me
so close that I can reach out and touch it
then it backs away just a touch
and then it comes closer
and leaves again.
I give up the fight
it is useless at this point
there is no way I can win.
The fantasy disappears
the ball off light goes out.
The nightmare is back .
Reality is stripped away.
The nightmare becomes
a new normal
a new reality
