Sitting in a dark corner
of a darkened room.
I hear my mother
being hit
repeatedly
by my step-father
It’s only a matter of time
before he gets me.
The door swings open
A drunken man
stands there
He reaches out
grabs my leg
and pulls me
I scream in terror...
