Woke up at 7,
Practice starts at 8.
Staying up until 11
Was an awful mistake.

I arrive at the school
Two minutes to spare;
I lace up my shoes
and put up my hair.

Ball in hand
I take the shot
Before it lands
The coach I spot.

His goal: team fitness.
“On the end line!”
He means business,
And within one hour I realize:

“Man, I’m out of shape!”

From the jogging to the sprinting
The dribbling to the shooting
My body is clearly hinting
That candy was probably a mistake.

The clock strikes 10
Practice comes to an end
To home sweet home I head
Where the couch is as good as my bed.
