Books fill up my room.
Not baseball cards,
or pictures of girls,
or basketballs.
Maybe a blown up picture of …
… Pam Anderson might help.

Black-framed glasses
and a white,
pale,
lanky
body.
I should start working out.

At least I can read.
I read four books a day last summer.
The librarian,
80-year-old Mrs. Woodsworth,
she knows my middle name.
If only I had a real friend.
I am sick of seeing her old,
bony,
pale body.
Although it resembles mine.

The kids at school laugh.
Is it the way I dress?
Lacoste,
Ralph Lauren,
La Tigre.
I’ve tried every designer out there.
Staying in the house really saves me money.
My stupid rich parents give me $50 a week for lunch.
$50 times 36 weeks …
what is that?
$1,000,
$2,000,
$10,000?
I should probably know.
Straight A’s 12 years in a row
and counting.

With all of this,
or none of this –
it depends how you look at it –
all I need is a friend.

If you dont see what everyone else sees then maybe youve never been in this kind of situation, count your self lucky. Its not a bad thing nor a good one but it is something you can grow from expireancing.

I would love to be your friend :( Everyone deserves a friend! and I believe that since I'd want the same, why can't I be that friend? (:

woah woah woah, not neccisarily. i love this poem, it good description and emotion. i realy love the way it is written. there is no need to call names or critisize. most of my own poems is about death or heartbreak. poetry is a way to let your feelings out in a non violent way, maybe you should think a little more before critisizing

just becasue this person knows how to express her emotions and you don't doesnt give you a reason to critize, dont judge a book by its cover.

Wow!! I'll give this poem an A+. I really love your poem so much. What I love even more is your life. You get to read thousands of books and might probably have access to one the best libraries of the world. I'd give up everything I have for that (I love books, too). And you can write so beautifully... You even got published in the magazine. I wish even my work would be recognized. You live in a community where creativity is appreciated unlike me. Your parents encourage you and whats more... you... (more »)
