"If you were half as funny as you think, you'd be twice as funny as you think you are." -Clary Fray

The vapors of my confidence slowly

moving away from my pores,

freezing my feet into place as

the daggering stares dig into

my flesh, diminishing

that last ounce of self-faith.

Wishing to be at another place,

another galaxy where the

creatures speak a language

of encouragement. But the

shattering reality breaks my

daze, bringing me back to where

     I am...

at the mercy of the fire squad

of English literature.

I reek of nervousness,

the scent that they hunger for,

hoping my perfume overpowers it.

I breath in and out. Opening

my mouth to say:

"Ah, hell."

And from there I know

where my fate lies with that damn fire squad.

The author's comments:

I made this poem reflecting on a recent presentation that I did in my creative writing class. (HI GEARY!!) I was actually suprised that my peers thought I gave the best one out the class... wowzers. Anyway, I posted this because I know majority of the teenage population can relate to this.
