When Looking Through The Looking Glass
When looking through the looking glass
No one sees the pain
They assume the shiny painted faces
We all wear
Make us sane
That somehow
Even though we plead and cry
And scream
Are painted faces aren't a lie
We all live the dream
That ideal society has plastered
Deep within our minds
The unlined face
The gorgeous smile
That we never have to hide
And yet
If they were to take off my mask
My fakery
They would not see the little girl
I've been known to be
Instead
A demon
Sinner
And one that always lies
Would surface and take my place
As I washed off my disguise
So as I wait for them to unmask
This long departed child
My mind becomes unstable
My eyes almost blind
To the good of the world and the people in the streets
For once I do not think
That this evil I can beat
So as I bleed
And as I fall
Unable to save that which all
My life has known
My hopes and dreams
I hope that God
Will someday seem
Open to the devil within my heart
And someday
This mask I wear will come apart
