On the sterile white bed
she sits.
Silently she examines her fate,
waiting for the voices to abate.

They won’t go away
Their faces jeer and jab
two devils and no angel
sit on her shoulder.

Her world is no bell jar,
It is a big black galaxy,
stars are shining
but she just can’t seem to
reach them.

Pretty purple pills,
small white cups,
stick out your tongue,
we don’t want you
to kill yourself.

She forges through a linoleum runway,
pockets filled with stones,
looking for a way
out.
