Eye contact
with someone.
The kid next to you in math
a person on the bus that’s stopped at a light
next to your car
or across from you at the crosswalk.
Checking that
they’re still there
you can see them
and so are they
checking you, too.
And it’s happening
and you’re here
and it’s all happening to them
and happening to you.
