What Happens to the Broken Hearted?
What happens to the broken hearted?
When their dreams are crushed?
Or their missions thwarted?
What happens to that lonely sole?
If not a demon nor an angel be?
Is there a river of Asphodel? Or a purgatory?
Or do they just shove the grays in a box and call it a day?
What happens to the musician without a song?
Or a hero when no threat comes along?
If two people fall in love and don’t say a word,
Do they get another chance?
Or were they the one?
What happens to the paraplegic dancer?
Or the tone deaf singer?
Do they quit and wait for another dream?
Or do they try to keep up until the end?
Are deaf composers, and limbless runners only for the geniuses?
What happens to the liar or coward that’s too good for hell,
But still not worthy of heaven?
What happens to still water that’s not a lake or a river?
What happens to lava that cools to a rock,
And never to move again?
What happens to the dreamers who have lost their dream?
No mountain to climb?
Or an ocean to cross?
What happens to the homeless to unsightly for a job?
What happens to the women who sell their bodies to support a child?
What happens to the mentally ill who want to be free?
Are we all really equal?
Can we all be what we want to be?
What happens to the girl in the projects who wants to be president?
What happens to the drug lord’s son who want to be a priest?
What happens to the tycoon’s child who want to be a baker?
Do we really have a choice? Or is it already decided?
Do babies cry even when we say it’s okay because they really know the truth?
Or is the truth a dream,
And the dreams the truth??
