Thank God
Thank God...there were five armed policemen to take down
one defenseless father of six.
Thank God...they handcuffed
an unconscious man.
Thank God...Officer Pantaleo’s record of two lawsuits
for racially motivated misconduct
did not take him off the streets.
Thank God...Officer Pantaleo never had the
“intention to harm anyone”
Thank God...Officer Pantaleo couldn’t hear the words
“I can’t breathe”
Thank God...the NYPD banned harmful practices,
so they could be ignored.
Thank God…the medical examiner’s conclusion of death by homicide
was irrelevant.
Thank God...there wasn’t enough evidence,
only a video that captured everything.
Thank God...racism is gone in America.

I was inspired to write this piece because I was flabbergasted by the recent rulings not to indict two policemen involved in two seperate homicides, escpecially the case in New York. I wished to share my opinion on the topic and hopefully spark reform in our justice sysytem.
