Escape In Sleep
Sleeping is beautiful
so soft, so sweet
like candy you might say.
Escaping from the real world
in a dream where anything could be just
everything.
In a wonderland that you make up
a world that belongs to only you.
Your very own creation.
And I know
dreams can be terrifying
to the point where you let yourself go.
You’re falling.
You can’t see
now you’re running, you’re out of breath
you open your eyes
covered in sticky sweat
while you’re huffing and puffing trying to catch a breath.
But.
They are also peaceful
so poise.
So quiet that they’d think you were gone.
Wrapped up in silk white sheets
that felt just like rose petals.
And pillows so soft and deep
just like a cloud from up above.
Now your alarm goes off.
You’re startled.
Bangging on the buttons to shut it off.
You open your eyes wishing
there was more time.
To be wrapped up in rose petaled felt sheets
and laying your head in clouds so deep.
Just remember.
Sleep will be waiting for you to escape the real world.
On your bed where you rest at night.
And the pillow where you lay your head at
while your dreams yonder in no sight.
