A Certain Puff
As I sit and listen to the strengthening winds,
I feel a certain puff from one
A puff of excitation, of inspiration, of revelation
I now know, when before I floundered
I know my next course, my true path
What I did not know until just this moment
Was the source of that puff
But I believe I have finally caught it now
It is a second consciousness, my shadow self
Standing by for when I need it most.

Writing poetry was not what I ever thought I would be doing--until this school year, when with urging from my advisor and teacher I decided to try out a Creative Writing course at my school, Seattle Academy. I was hesitant at first because I had never written poetry before, but my curiosity got the best of me and I enrolled. Doing so was definitely the right choice. For me writing poetry really makes my mind work on a different level than any other course I take. I enjoyed this change of pace and I hope to continue writing poetry in the future.
