The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes- Sherlock Holmes

Oh to be a child again
The weekly coffee mornings
The school plays
Singing hymns in assembly
Watching films when it got close to the holidays
No worrying about if somebody doesn't love you back
Watching David Tennant as The Doctor each Saturday
Bursting with excitement at the prospect of a man coming to your house at Christmas to bring you gifts
Which..
at my age now, sounds slightly alarming
Not much was expected of you
I was happier than I ever have been
I was a creative budding young writer with a constant need to write
I still am that same girl just considerably older
Singing carols around the Christmas tree
playing I am the champion on the grass
And now, to look back at it, is nostalgic
A piece of me I feel I've sort of lost
Oh to be a child again

The author's comments:

I reminisce very often about being in primary school and being a child so, I decided to write this poem about it.
