Your heart is like a cupcake,
It's sweet and soft and simple,
But if you press too hard,
You get a dent, a crumbling dimple.
You're savored and you're loved,
And I treasure every bite,
But I'm scared that if I give it wings,
My cupcake will take flight.

Our love is like a cupcake,
It's small, but filled with flavor,
And when you take a bite, it tips,
Causing your voice to quaver.
You shriek and you call out,
Seeking the sugar you so crave,
But it's gone, your cupcake's gone,
And I'm not strong, I can't be brave.

My mind is like a cupcake,
It seems pretty, but it crumbles.
The joy that flits and flutters
In my stomach turns and tumbles.
I think sweet thoughts, sweet words,
But in reality, I'm bitter.
If you, my cupcake, leave,
I won't stay strong, I'll be a quitter.

My joy is like a cupcake,
It is sweet, but doesn't last.
It feels so warm and fluffy,
But deteriorates fast.
My life is like a cupcake,
Filled with more than I intend,
But, with every mouthful,
It comes closer to the end.
