"If I wasn't an actor, I would have been a secret agent." - Thornton Wilder

He did it again.
He did it again
And I can’t help him now.
He’s bleeding again.
He’s bleeding again.
When did he use, and how?
He said he would stop.
He said he would stop,
But the world is such a reactant.
She discovered his scar.
She discovered his scar
And called him an addict.
How can I stand by
When he’s saved me all those times?
This can’t end – no, not this friend.
In time our skin and scars will blend.

It happened again.
It happened again,
Her sicknesses are back.
She’s worried again.
She’s worried again.
There’s nothing in her stomach.
They thought it was gone.
They thought it was gone,
But her vomiting won’t pass.
Is it my fault?
Is it my fault?
She said no when I asked.
Do I need to help? Indeed
She said it stopped when we did the deed.
And what would you, a bystander, do
If you knew what I knew?

He’s crying again.
He’s crying again
And not reaching out for help.
He’s hiding again.
He’s hiding again
After telling me how he felt.
He’s cutting. That’s new.
He’s cutting. That’s new
And he’s crawling on his knees for me.
He’s scared of it all.
He’s scared of it all
But won’t open his eyes and see.
There only is so much help to give
When someone doesn’t want to live.
The ups and downs can’t come around.
Equilibrium isn’t found.
