The Emotion They Call "Friendship"
September 9, 2014
do you ever feel that you don't matter
and that the world would keep spinning without you
because i feel it every day
the push and pull of the emotional roller coaster
really takes a toll when you've got nothing to lose
and everyone tells you
it's all part of life and you can't sweat the small stuff
but you can't help but wonder
if they never have a fear of being utterly useless
or maybe that they're right
and it's all blown out of proportion
because i know how it goes
and i scream to the world daily
that i am here
i exist
and yet
it's all but whispers in the wind
and as i dwindle away to nothing
i can see a light
clear as day
and it's you
it's you for me
and i for you
the anchoring we supply to each other keeps us grounded
at least for a little bit longer
until one of us is free
the chains finally breaking under the pull and stress of life
and though i weep to see you go
i finally understand
the meaning of the emotion they call "friendship"
