He Was My High

When we first met,
I felt a buzz.
When we first touched,
I felt the rush.
When we first kissed,
I was flying.
At the first "I love you",
I was addicted.
After the "I love you"s stopped,
I started falling.
After the kisses diminished,
I was falling.
After the touch was gone,
I crashed.
After he was gone,
So was I.
He took my high,
and left me on the ground.
He took his love,
and left me lonely.
Lonley me, an ex-addict.
Who has been sober far too long.
