Shoot for the stars. At least you'll reach the moon.

Like a skater’s shoes forever on the move
One wheel to the next one pavement
to the next. The farm has withered and
the crop has moved, but still the grain
stays. Doomed to never be harvested
it quickly moves from the beginning to end
water moving up the stem
diffusion.
Nutrients arching into stalks
like the feel of sandpaper
it transforms into silky liquid
smooth like the bartender but rugged like the mountain
The grain waits in the rest area
Endlessly hoping in vain
for solace and conclusion, for an end to misery, to existence
the others had legs, a portable home, and a dish for water
but battalions of grain could not move
their discipline never wavers they stand as straight as pine
waiting for an order that never comes, for an officer that is missing in action
withering endlessly drooping their shoulders, feet firmly in place
Their tentacles spread but no resource is found
Searching for truth but only uncovering lies
In the soil all around them only tractor marks live; abandoned.
