I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.
I’m sick of pondering right and wrong.
I’m sick of wondering who to trust,
Or what to trust in.
I’m sick of having leaders,
When I never asked to be led.
I’m sick of following rules,
When there’s always an exception.
I’m sick of others being tired,
But afraid to make change.
I’m sick of hearing “be yourself,”
When I’m labeled for doing so.
I’m sick of showing compassion,
To never get it back in return.
I’m sick of watching landfills grow,
When others are starving,
And,
I’m sick of the truth being so hard to find.
I’m sick of caring for others,
In a way that they won’t care about me.
I’m sick of always being the “bigger person.”
I’m sick of having questions,
And others pretending they have answers,
When truly,
They’re just as unsure as me.
I’m sick of being promised “brighter days,”
When I’m not promised more days at all.
I’m sick of fearing failure,
When failure is different to everyone,
And,
I’m sick of going to school,
To learn what others decide that I should.
I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.
But now that I’m done writing…
Time to make a change.
