Let me go

You are the amber gold,
gleaming in the sunlight.
I am the murky brown,
broken, and hidden in shadow.

You are the sunshine,
warm, happy, and bright.
I am the rain,
sad, dreary, and hated.

You are the happy days,
the laughter, and the smiles.
I am the bad days,
the past regrets, and lonesome nights.

You are the dawn,
The security, and hope of a new day.
I am the dusk,
Fear of the dark, and hopelessness.

You are the peace,
the gentle rain, and the calm.
I am the storm,
the hurricane, and the chaos.

You are the tree,
calm, and a shelter.
I am the thorns,

tangled, and sharp.

You are the antelope,
a docile being.
I am the leopard,
the huntress, and the hider.

I am a force of nature,
you're the calm before my storm,
my opposite, my balance,
my missing piece.

You are the healer,
and I am the broken.
You are the designer,
and I am the destroyer.

You are the imaginary,
and I am real.
You are not here,
for if you were,

would I be alone?

After all, you are the comfort,
and I am the pain.
You are candied apples,

and I am the bad taste of bile.

You are the raven,
and I am the crow.
You are the thrush,
and I am the blackbird.

You are a friend,
and I am alone.
You are miles away,
and I am stuck in sinking sand.

'Tis a shame you don't exist,
a mere figment
of my lonely imagination,
a dream, such a sweet dream.

You are a dream,
and I am the nightmare.
You are the lullaby,
and I am the scary story.

You are white,
as I am black.
You are yin,
and I am yang.

You've never moved,
and I am afraid to stay.
You say hello,
and I say goodbye.

You are not here,
and I am not there.
I hope our paths never cross,
for you want the best for your love.

You're the song to my heart,

hamony to my melody,
and my missing piece,
and because I love you,
I'm letting you go.

You would be perfect,
and I would ruin you,
marring your light,
tarnishing it with my darkness.

If you love me,
like I love you,
then let me go,
as I have you.

For love should be pure,
bright, happy, and light.
Love shouldn't be one sided,
broken, twisted, and marred.

So because I love you,
I am letting you go,
go and love another.
For how can someone love me,
when I cannot love myself.

I was given a prompt, and that prompt was to write a love poem. So I came up with this.
