I don't want to be like everyone else, I want to be me. I won't walk with all of you on the ground because I can fly. -My own quote

She lie on her cold, hard bed
Not able to remember what she said
To that guy on that night
What was his name anyways?
She's tired of her small apartment
It seems that all she can afford these days
Is a bottle of rum
Or maybe two if she's lucky
As she pulls her blanket close
Sheltering her from a sudden coldness
She realizes her last electric bill went unpaid
And it triggers a memory
From when she was five
She asked her mother
Why the TV went out
Her mother held up a bottle of rum
Laughing with a dead look in her eyes
Later that week a man left the house
In the dead of night
While her mother sobbed
The TV came back next week
Snapping out of the memory
She considered bringing in some extra cash
Than she got on her 9 to 5 at the grocery store
What's the point anyways
She got so drunk these days
That she wouldn't remember it at all
Which brings her back to where she started
Trying to remember names
Her head is pounding
Just remember a name, any name
Crying, she grabs some pills
Left behind by whatshisname
With the cool leather jacket
As she downs the pills
She picks up a crumpled letter
That's when she remembers
The one who left her on the street
The reason why she can't stay sober
Then she hears a knock on the door
"Not again" she cries
But she knows she needs the money
This isn't what she wanted
She swore she wouldn't
End up like her mother
She finds herself falling
The pills must be kicking in
That was her last thought
Everything goes dark
Now she's just another statistic
A young man walks in
It's not who she thought
He knows he's too late
As he holds her cold hand in his
He knew he shouldn't have left her
He destroyed her

This doesn't relate to me. For some reason, this poem just kind of came to me.
