Death rang me up one day

I leaped for the phone, breathless

Grab my hand, take me away, I
begged through desperate gasps

There was silence

Agonizing silence

Please, I pleaded

Take me now Death

He let out a drawled sigh

Maybe…

My eyes sparkled

Now?

He sneered

I’ll let you suffer some more.
Now’s not your time

You’re going to let me rot inside forever, aren’t you?

I could hear him grin

Of course. It’s more fun this way
