I wish my pain was like paper
I could fold it up
Put it aside
And forget about it
But my pain isn't like paper
It's like blood
It flows through every part of me
And is everywhere, everywhere at once
Oxygen diffuses from every one of my 350,000,000 alveoli into it
Making each breath sting
It's filtered out in the nephrons of my kidneys
But then is reabsorbed
Returning, always returning
And slicing like a knife every time
It flows through every capillary in my brain
Always, always on my mind
It is endlessly pumped through he atria and ventricles of my heart
Causing each contraction of my myocardium to be a painful reminder of it
My pain is like blood
So I am hemophilic
Each wound causes my blood, my pain to seep out
And my blood never clots, never stops
Just like my pain
My pain never, never ends
