It drops from the air,
and hits the ice with a clack.
The piercing whistle blows,
and my stick slaps the icy surface.

A black object is launched,
it slides, until met by my fast moving body.
My hands manipulate it back and forth,
for its own protection, not to be stolen from the opponent.

I glide down the rink,
only the goal is in my sight.
Feeling the chilly air whoosh past my helmet,
is exhilarating.
Hearing it whip past the padded body,
is even more thrilling.
