Falling
Somehow I have fallen
Into something totally new
Head over heels I tumble from the top
Hands of steel clench my heart
Squeezing out my whole existence
My hair is pulled and yanked
By spider like branches
Every sharp twig scratching my face
A mouth full of leaves, dry and dead
Gag and choke; the taste of wet tree
An approaching greenery; shrubs and plants
Death is near; it’s a waste to scream
I close my eyes slowly, tears welling in my eyes
And I await my impending doom
But there’s no convulsing pain, nothing to feel
No cold and damp ground beneath me
No taste of grass upon my face
Like a timid child I open my eyes
And here I am cradled
In the warm and comforting arms of a stranger
Why have I fallen?
And yet I live to tell the tale
