Bury your dead,
Not in vine-covered temples,
Intricately designed pyramids,
Nor under dreary tombstones
Engraved with dates and names.
Bury your dead
Within your life.
Sock drawers,
To remind you
Although life is hectic,
Unmatched,
You have hands to fix it.
Kitchen sinks,
For when you feel disgusting,
Stained by depression,
Cloaked with grease
You can't scrub off,
Used up by society.
The buried will say,
“Clean up, the ability is yours.”
Bury your dead
In the depths of your memory,
For when you feel as if the
World is too big for you,
Engulfing you into darkness,
The dead will remind you,
You are the stars.
The universe has not made a mistake;
Do not question your existence.
Do not bury your dead in
Temples, tombs, the earth;
Bury them close,
Always in sight,
To never forget.

The author's comments:
This poem is for all who have lost someon ei their life. The past two years, my school has lost many great students. We made shirts and necklaces to remember them. I believe it doesn't take a physical object to remember someone if you just think about them through your struggles. Although we miss these students every day, we will always remember the lessons they have taught us.
