We are the Carvers

We’ve said our vows
Hand in hand
Now we’re the Carvers
Because it’s that time
Spring.
Mother Nature smiles on us
Giving us something we thought would be perfect
Expectations crunching into dust under our feet
We tried to make them cute and sweet
But they turned out gruesome and great
Our blade carved their features
Imprinted ourselves into their skin
After a while they left us
Because it was that time
When the monsters go out to play.

At first it seems light and sweet, but I really like the contrast of the last line. From the beginning, "Mother Nature smiles on us" to "When the monsters go out to play." I like it a lot.
