Favorite Quote:
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear. The brave may not live long, but the cautious do not live at all."

-Meg Cabot

Blood.
A pencil.
A prick.
A crimson droplet.
A silent wince.

Blood.
A blow.
A shooting pain.
A rush of warmth clogs the nose.
Thick, scarlet shame.

Blood.
The sting of words.
A gouging sneer.
Cruel, throbbing laughter.
Bleeding clear from blurry eyes.

Blood.
The words.
The raw emotion.
Tearing from the inside.
A heart bleeds within.

Blood.
Too much.
Too much to bear.
Too much to bear alone.
Yet silence stays.

The author's comments:
"Bullying is bad. You shouldn't do it." Those words have been repeated in hundreds of different languages in schools worldwide. They are weak words. They are not words of action, and as a result, many teens live under the burden of bullying, unwilling or scared to speak up. This is what my poem attempts to reflect.
