"You're only given one little spark of madness; you mustn't lose it."

…as my feet numbly lead themselves forward,
I tell myself to let it go;
I release the aching my hollow limns have withheld
and forget the sadness swelling in my marrow.
I imagine my worries crumpled like tossed paper in a windstorm,
caught in a gutter full of rain.
I run from myself and what I fear most
hidden behind brick walls at the end of the road.
As I run,
my eyes deceive me as I begin to see the crumpled bits fall from my skull,
spilling into a path behind me.
My lungs catch fire
as my feet give out beneath me and my head wails as a siren,
knocking behind my temples.
I check to see that my crumpled worries have not followed me,
only to find then that they never were lost in the first place.
