Favorite Quote:
"Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and, therefore, the foundation of all invention and innovation. In its arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared."
—J.K. Rowling

I’m not sure what I look like.
I’ve never actually seen myself.

Sure, I’ve seen photographs, and somehow
I label some as good and others as bad.

This one makes my hair look good.
This one makes me look fat.

But a photograph is a split second
Of a soul in constant motion.

A simple flash could never even begin
To capture everything that I am.

I see my reflection too,
But even that could never show my true essence.

Mirrors make me focus on what needs to be fixed;
I analyze every curve and slope of my body.

A mirror shows the physical facts
And my brain distorts the rest.

I’ve never seen the way my eyes light up
When I speak passionately about something.

I’ve never seen my expression change
As quickly as my feelings do.

I’ve never seen myself
Surprised, content, or daydreaming.

The true moments of beauty in life—
The ones that make it worth living—

Can never be captured.
