A cosmos of emotion in a pair of eyes.
She drifted with breathless elegance.
Chiffon trailing
behind her.
Leather-bound sandals
supple against the severity
of the Middle Eastern sun.
Slender hands – no rings,
but she trailed behind a man.
Strands of brown hair
peeked out of the scarf that veiled her head.
Before she neatly tucked it away.
In her burqa, she was a cloud of
blue-gray fabric.
She was a pair of dark eyes.
A lens of expression, heavily coated
in layers of kajal.
Murky pupils that played with light
like it was a little girl – a mere reflection
of her parents.
When she smiled, you could not see
the delicate curvature of her mouth.
Instead,
her eyes squinted into
two crescent moons.
Heavy as night, but with
the twinkle of each star.
A cosmos of emotion in a pair of eyes.
