"If you're ready doesn't matter, are you willing is my question"

We often forget that we too made mistakes
but how can we not?
WE ARE ONLY HUMAN

the bar of perfection
Is reaching well beyond the heavens
yet, it's our job
my job
to meet this standard
or even better, fly beyond.
however,
this is certainly impossible
because we are not perfect.
WE ARE ONLY HUMAN

its funny to think
that those who critique
-and so harshly they do-
made the same mistakes
yet they clothe themselves with lies
whereas,
I brought it to light.
I chose honesty.
I corrected my mistake
but I was treated
as damaged goods..
as worthless

choices will always have consequences
but cannot value grace me with its presence again?
can't it see that I can still have potential?
WE ARE ONLY HUMAN

why must a mistake lead to the death of success?
can we not learn and move forward
from this havoc of feeling broken because
I AM JUST A HUMAN

To you,
I am no longer great.
No longer am I useful
or ready to be successful in the world.
That is how I appear...
in your eyes at least.
but
not in mine.
not anymore.

I can move forward
whether that be alone
or with you.

I will find a way
and I will be great.
and one day when I am an adult
and have made myself a living
I will show you.

I will buy you the house of your dreams
And I will provide for your whims and wants.
I will give you the life that you want
BECAUSE YOU ARE HUMAN

and you deserve forgiveness
and after that
you deserve grace.

so i will show you
I am more than damaged
I AM HUMAN
And i will be successful
and i will defeat this brokenness
and I will love you
because you're family
and to me
that's all I need
because in the end
WE ARE JUST HUMAN.

The author's comments:
I feel as though sometimes we make mistakes and then forget how to treat the people who condemn us. This poem is a reminder that others should not effect how you treat people. Because we are all only human.
