It's Not Only a Game
Taking a deep breath, stepping up to the plate and looking at the bases loaded ready to take off. Clenching my hands to the bat, toning out the wild crowed.
She throws a perfect pitch, right to me sweet spot.
Bat following my hands
“Smack!”
The ball fling high in the air, going farther and farther, and hits the fence.
Player at third home, player at second home, and player at first sliding into home.
Safe!
I turn three; she throws as I glide on the gravel, dust fogging.
It clears.
Safe! The blue calls out.
I am safe.
