My heart squeezed against my fragile ribs.
Thump.
You have to do this, Monica.
It's your only chance to be you.
The door is right there. Just open it,
and walk in.
Thump.
Show them who you really are.
Thump.
My feet tapped against the cool marble floor,
too fast for me to keep up.
Thump.
Show yourself.
I leaned in and opened the door,
and smiled so big my face almost shattered.
My eyes glistening in anticipation,
and high spirits.
Here comes "that girl who is always smiling."
