there we were
caged in silence that we manifested from the pit of our own empty stomachs
Dissatisfied
hollow
my eyes scan the room but make no eye contact
they skip over your body the way seven year boys skip over the words that are just too hard to sound out
And i feel your eyes do that same but I know you wouldnt dare look at me while i was looking
because somehow this is a rule of war
right next to the rule about never showing how much you care
because caring isnt cool
caring is thirsty
because everyone knows the worst thing you could be is needy
right?
Not as bad as flirting with your best friend's boyfriend that one time because you knew you could
not as bad as failing that one test because everyone knows it averages out in the end
the morning dew gliding on the windows turned to bars and my lips burn to speak
my heart arches and i hope you feel the same
"Good morning
I miss you
I love you
You look beautiful when you sleep
and i love that shirt on you"
Just kidding.
I dont speak.
I close my eyes and sleep instead.
Because that's what cool kids do.
