It's the love affair of the ages
Her shirt ripples in the gentle breeze
She smells like tea tree oil and lemon grass
And the way her hair drifts around her face is perfect
But she's been cheating on me for weeks

She likes the summer
She likes the heat
The way it feels to ride her bike
On pavement that burns like hot coals

But the weather changed
It's sunny, but strange
Sometimes it rains...and she likes it

She's never liked that before
And maybe it's because she's changing
Even though her Maui tee
Denies that she could ever love the spring
(While simultaneously denying that she's ever been to Maui)
And even though the rolled up cuffs of her jeans
Suggest that she's waiting for warmer weather
She's different

And she's been coming home later and later these days
Smelling like fresh grass
And looking so windblown
And still, it's only march
The grass doesn't smell quite warm enough
And the wind doesn't feel quite dry enough

She's been cheating on me for weeks
With Spring
