time shall pass

darkened a shade of black
and colder than the polar winds –
that’s how you found her heart,
a place no one dared to love.

time passed.

you fell into the depths
of her sunken eyes,
and landed with a thump
with broken bones.

and time passed.

trapped inside her broken soul,
you lit up the canvas
of her once empty eyes;
you loved her.

but time passed.

like a bird whose wings were fixed,
she flew away to a place
where your broken bones
could not run fast enough to.

so time passed.

you’re the one waiting for another
to fall into the depths
of your now sunken eyes,
but this time, you want to fly together.
