Today I feel the cold and it

feels me too. We are equals today,

battering rams on sweet maple

floorboards, eggshells tiptoeing

out of sight. We are robin pecked,

lissome fields of wheat loosely dressed

in the sun’s afterthoughts. Little

bees, crawling clumsily over the

cherries and into each other’s hearts.
