I pray.

I pray that my mad murmurings
Might filter into your subconscious mind
And think your thoughts the way they should be.

I pray that some shuffling shoes
Should perturb the air and shift
The house of cards to its center of gravity.

I pray that countless cursory kowtows
Could jostle my brain into conceiving
THAT THE UNIVERSE
IS DEAD.

The author's comments:
I am an agnostic. I only call myself an agnostic and not an atheist because I cannot convince my unconscious brain to believe that there is no God. Logically I believe it, illogically I somehow cannot.
In a way, I envy religious people. The degree of conviction and certainty that spirituality requires is, to me, enviable in a way.
