Realizations of a Time Passed

Scars adorn my thighs and arm
From a time now past
A time that was untrue
Life is different than I thought
Happiness can be found
In certain places
Sadness is not constant
Instead found in certain places
I am different than I thought
Beauty does exist in me
Though I cannot see it well
I am worth something
All of the time
No matter what mother says
My ACT and GPA
Merely numbers on a page
Not my life
Not how I will be defined
No
I choose
To create my own future
And define myself
Instead of letting numbers define me
