athena

i'm about to have a conniption
a holy fit, like Athena breaking loose from Zeus' skull
i'll birth this rage into the world

edges, angles
sharp is how i like them
please don't soften the focus
i want to see everything, every little detail

i don't know how this happened
is that my hand clenched so tightly?
suppressing the scream, shaped like me
biting into my knuckles
o lord, i've broken skin

smashing the china like a bull,
i find my own cure in the shards
broken pieces, like my vision, fragmented

i won't say i'm sorry
i can't. nothing changes
and my head bursts open again
it may take years to gather the pieces
