The wind it blows
The petals of the rose
Drifts down to the pale floor
Someone softly closes the door
It’s time to say good-bye
Although it was said when her mind died
A couple of years ago
It still hurts,
When a heart ceases to beat
And no one’s ever ready
To let life take its course
But it must happen
Must move on
Nothing lasts for eternity
Time does not obey
It does not wait
And it does not have to be the enemy

The author's comments:
Written when thinking about an elderly couple, one had Alzheimer, and eventually she became "someone else", could not remember her husband's face. That was the day he said good-bye to her. (He continued to care for her, but knew she was no longer the person he knew/loved)
