Pale bodied
With ink splotched on their faces, paws, and tails
Had deep blue eyes not unlike the indigo part of morning when the sun has almost risen
They shared their little cat bed every night
Keeping one another warm inside our garage because my dad wouldn’t let them in the house
And after Samson was attacked by a raccoon he wasn’t the same
So we put him down
And Suki slept alone in their cat bed
His fur still on the pillow
And one day my mom ran over Suki backing into the driveway
I knew something was wrong, because my dad picked me up from school that day
My mom has never forgiven herself
And my dad threw their cat bed away, sweeping their pale fur off the garage floor
