Life's a b****, but if it was a slut, it'd be too easy. - Tori Burgess

I can't quite remember
Can't begin to explain
All the things she said
Running through my head
But the pieces I've left
Lying on the ground
Were swept away
One windy day
But were never together
And it never got better
So what can I do
This can't be true
I'm on the edge
Trying to reach out to you

It's something about you maybe I don't understand
But I redirect my attention and try and refocus
To the issues at hand
But my head is dizzy, it can't keep up with my heart's demands
I try and remember, keep in mind what's important
What matters to us is slipping through our hands
So I try and reach out to you
When you have nobody left
And I've always remained loyal to our love
Even though I wasn't the best

I can't quite remember
Can't begin to explain
All the things she said
Running through my head
But the pieces I've left
Lying on the ground
Were swept away
One windy day
But were never together
And it never got better
So what can I do
This can't be true
I'm on the edge
Trying to reach out to you

It's like it just happened the other day
When everything made sense and we got along so great
When we could handle everything that we had on our plate
And to any problem we ever had we could always relate
But now you've been gone so long it just doesn't make sense
You lived so close but seemed so far what was the sense
Of holding on to someone who had moved on? In my own defense
I was concerned with our love but you treated me like an expense
I'm sorry it didn't work out, it didn't happen like we want
But It's not something I lose sleep over because it wasn't all for naught

I can't quite remember
Can't begin to explain
All the things she said
Running through my head
But the pieces I've left
Lying on the ground
Were swept away
One windy day
But were never together
And it never got better
So what can I do
This can't be true
I'm on the edge
Trying to reach out to you

I was inspired to write this poem when I was going through a rough time in a relationship. I hope that you, the reader, will feel the emotion in this poem.
