Hope…
Hope…
Where is Hope?
I haven’t seen Hope in so long I don’t even know if Hope is there anymore.
Why hasn’t Hope come back to me?
People say that Hope is just around the corner, but I already looked there.
Trust me; Hope was never “just around the corner”.
But people say that I just have to look harder for Hope.
People say that Hope is all around me.
Well if that’s the case, then why can’t I find Hope?

When I find Hope, if I find Hope,
I want to look Hope straight in the eyes and say,
“Where the hell have you been? You were supposed to be there for me and my friends, but you just left us. You were supposed to help us.”

Hope was an old friend of mine back in the day.
Hope promised to be my best friend until the very end.
But now Hope and I don’t get along.
Hope left me when I was about 10 years old.
Hope left me when I started getting bullied at school
And I started crying a lot.

When I felt like crying,
Hope would be there at my side in my room.
Hope would hug me tightly, and say,
“It’s going to be alright. I’m here for you. I’ll never leave you. I promise.”

But one night when I was crying really hard,
Hope didn’t give me a tight hug.
Hope didn’t look at me.
Hope didn’t tell me that everything was going to be alright.

Instead,
Hope just stood up
And walked out of my bedroom,
Leaving the door wide open,
Leaving me to cry myself to sleep.

The next day,
I came home and started crying again.
But Hope was not there.

I waited for Hope the day after that,
And the day after that,
And the day after that,
And the day after that,
But Hope never showed up.
Hope didn’t come back to me when I went through
Seventh grade or even
Eighth grade.
I feared that Hope was really gone for good.

Another year goes by and I’m now going into high school
As a sophomore.
Three months pass by and nothing happens.
I felt like an emotion-vacuum
Came by and sucked away all of my happiness.
I couldn’t take the sorrow and despair anymore.

Then one day,
I met this really sweet girl.
She was really kind and
Was very funny.
She made me laugh a bit,
Something I haven’t done in years.

The next day I meet with her again.
She makes me laugh more
And starts to hang out with me every day.
After a while
I start meeting some of her friends.
Whenever she noticed that I was feeling down,
She would come and talk to me about it.
I finally had a true friend that would help me.
I started to feel something that I hadn't felt in a very long time…
Joy.

Then one day,
As school was ending and everyone was leaving the premises,
I thought about the pleasure that I have been experiencing.
But then I starting to feel like there was something else to it,
Something so vague that I couldn’t even put a name to it right away.
But then I realized what it was…
Hope.

As soon as this thought came to me,
I ran home faster than I’ve ever ran before in my life.
When I arrived back home,
I burst through the front door,
Threw my backpack onto the floor,
And charged for my bedroom.

As soon as I opened up my bedroom door,
My eyes started to flood with tears.
For right there,
Sitting by my bed,
Was my long lost friend…
Hope.

In this story, Hope sounds like a person, but Hope is actually an emotion made to look like a person.
